The Dual Horizon: Citizens Grapple with AI's Promise and Perils Amidst Shifting Climates

AI's Energy Appetite Raises Environmental Fears
It excites me that the AI is going open certain new dimensions of professionalism and education. It concerns me that it is going to require a big amount of energy to function which might disturb the natural environment.

The Unknown Frontier: AI's Knowledge Gap
So one another consideration is that currently AI is trained on all data that is known by humans, right? Human generated or different sort of data we know. Uh but considering that is a very small amount of stuff that we know, a lot of things are built on unknown. I'm worried that AI being thought of as an expert is very limited in its ability, you know. So uh so yeah, we still don't know anything about the unknown and that uh is just left out of any new uh thought or innovation.

AI: A Tool for the Powerful Few?
One big worry of mine when it comes to AI is that it being the most capital intensive technology in human history, it is intrinsically biased in favor of the most powerful, richest that almost no one else will really have access to the full capacity. And so it will be controlled by them. And we know what happens when the powerful control our lives.

AI: The Ultimate Productivity Multiplier
At least in programming and development, I'm able to almost do the work of three to five people at any time. So it's a uh unlike any other time this uh you know, power has been there. So it's it's definitely a great force multiplier and allows us to do multiple many things very powerfully. So the interesting thing is to see what can we do with so much power.

AI's Inevitable Integration, But At What Privacy Cost?
So I think AI is going to become part of our life. I remember some 10-15 years back when Android phone was there, only limited people were using the Android phone. Everybody had a feature phone. People used to ask, you don't have the Android phone. Then how people were shifted from feature phone to Android phone. Now even I was just taking an example of my father, he's also started using Android phone, without that he can't survive now. That much he's attached to that. Similarly, AI is going to be used in a different way. For me also, nowadays for each and every work, I am using some or other sort of AI. But at the same time, I'm really bothered about the data. Whatever I am sharing, does it go to the general warehouse where anybody can access? That is only my worry.

Blind Trust in AI Poses Manipulation Risk
AI has amplified my talents, increased my productivity and I can aim higher. Access to high-quality knowledge is not a barrier anymore. I am concerned that people will blindly start trusting AI from their initial experiences and will become vulnerable to manipulation. The cognitive abilities in some people might go down. AI has a reduced capability to detect misinformation because it does not reject any of the training data. It is limited in its use of non-verbal senses and so its world-view is limited and inherently cannot be fully trusted.

Predictive AI: A Lifesaver for Public Services
Government should train hospitals, police, construction, transport, municipalities, and others to use AI to predict things that can go wrong or break or causes accidents or disasters. This can lead to preventive steps to save lives.

AI Threatens Complexity of Animal Sentience
I think I'm excited and also concerned about different aspects of AI. One of my biggest concerns at the moment is the application of AI in animal language processing. Data that is used in these LLM represents a complex sentient being, yet for the tool, it is reduced to data points. I am concerned that this reduces the complexity of those worlds that we are attempting to understand. Sentient populations are being extracted from and therefore are not currently represented as the complex, social populations that they are.

Augmented or Diminished? AI's Impact on Human Capacity
What excites me most about AI is really what I call augmented intelligence. That it may help us expand our capacities and help us do things that we haven't even imagined so far. Unfortunately, this is also what I'm most concerned about AI. That it will instead of augmenting it, diminish our capacities. Not just because we will offload our mind to AI, but also because there will be forces that are deliberately extractive and want to control our minds. But hope is greater than fear in this case for me.

LPG Shortage Ignites Local Business Woes
Yes. My family has been affected by the LPG shortage. I have one small hotel, and to run it smoothly we daily use LPG. We daily use LPG cylinders for cooking breakfast, tea, and meals. Now there are delays in getting a new cylinder and also the price are increased. These delays in getting a new cylinder has created a problems in managing my hotel. To deal with LPG shortage problem we try to use the gas carefully and avoid wasting fuel. Sometimes we use wood stove for cooking meals and breakfast. Also I am forced to charge extra money on customers.
