For farmers, fix the market first, then talk of crops

Farmers deserve self-respect and a guaranteed market price before being asked to commit to new crops, ensuring their role as the nation's backbone is honored.

By Bhargvi, Farmer · the community conversation on “How can we make our villages wiser?”

Responds to — unstable agricultural markets

For farmers, fix the market first, then talk of crops
I am a farmer, and we farmers are the backbone of this country. We deserve respect and self-respect, not to be subservient to anyone. The government gives us a little rice, but that's not enough. Before asking us to grow specific crops or vegetables, you must first fix a proper market and a fair price for our produce. Only then can we be motivated and plan for future developments. We need money and fertilizer to grow crops, and our land needs leveling. If you want us to be farmers, you must support us by ensuring we can earn a dignified income from our hard work. We should not be dependent on subsidies; instead, we need a system that values our contribution.
    The Recipe

    You'll need

    In one line

“Guarantee fair market prices and a stable system for farmers before dictating crop choices.”

Tell me, sir, what kind of help? What help did we not get? What kind of help is needed? Now, if we want to grow crops, if we want to grow vegetables, we need money. We need fertilizer. Then the entire land needs to be leveled.

A farmer should always be self-respecting. He should not be subservient to anyone. He should receive all kinds of respect and status. If you say 'farmer', consider him the backbone of this country. Give him all due respect.

Hi sir, this is from Balighatta. In our village, we are facing a major problem: a high number of people are becoming alcoholics because alcohol is being sold without a license in every general store and tea shop. Most villages in our Melukote hobli are experiencing this issue. These storekeepers are selling alcohol without the proper license, and the Grama Panchayat has not taken any action against them. Even those who are known sellers show no hesitation. They have already paid a fine for illegal alcohol sales, but it's only 10,000, an amount they recover within 3 days. They sell around 200+ liters in our village every month. A general person works hard and earns about 400 per day, but they spend 300 daily on buying this black-market alcohol. How can the people in my village develop? Rich people always engage in this kind of alcohol selling and become richer, while poor people are trapped in this cycle. How can poor people improve their lives? Sir, I kindly request you to take decisive action against this situation.

Mangala won't become a singer. They say we'll visit everywhere, Bangalore, Mysore quickly. Is it possible to convince them? It should occur to them. Yes, if they have the desire to suppress our elders and youngsters, it should come from within their minds.

    — Bhargvi

    💬

Yes, yes, if I have to be a farmer, tell them I won't give permission. First, fix a proper market and price for the farmers and motivate them about the crops, then it will be beneficial for the farmers for the next developments regarding rates.

Sir/Madam, we are from Melkote. Our Paramesh Gowda has made a lot of efforts for the development of Melkote in the past. Even now, Melkote lacks cleanliness and the tourists who come here don't have facilities. Neatness is also our aim.

In every street of the Gram Panchayat, and in every village, we will use solar systems, thereby reducing our carbon dioxide emissions. Because we are not getting coal, we will use sunlight, a natural resource.

This Pandavapura is very famous for tourism. Tourism should be fully improved here. Tourism should be given more encouragement. In the same way, in the matter of education, everything has to go to Mysore, madam. As much as possible, it will benefit the children again in Pandavapura.

There is a population of seven people. There were 20 people then. They were producing enough food for 20 people. The population increased. The government could not maintain it. They could not maintain it. The land is the same. The land is decreasing. So many factories are coming up. Then so much is happening.

    — Bhargvi

    💬

Our Pandu, our Pandupura needs to improve further. For that, we are asking for good engineering degree colleges to come up. Because the taluk has developed, if it improves further, it'll be even better. The main circle is here. However you go to Pandupura, the main circle is here.

    — Bhargvi

    💬

Hey, the government shouldn't give any subsidies. The first thing the government should do is education. Everyone should be given the same education. One. The second thing is health. Health should be provided to everyone for free, it's mandatory.

    — Bhargvi

    💬

Cleanliness is very important for tourism in Melkote. Again, receive our guests. It has been informed about it, about Melkote, and again, the guest houses are there, cleanliness, and Kalyanis are there in Melkote.
