What people in Cuttack are saying

1 neighbours have shared what matters to them — in their own words.

“Gender is linked with the environment because both men and women associate with the environment in different ways. Mostly in rural areas women are responsible for collecting water, cooking food, etc., which means environmental problems affect them faster and they are more aware of its changes. But men on the other hand are mainly associated with activities like agriculture, industry, etc. which also shapes the environment in a significant way. Gender roles influence how people engage with natural resources and respond to environmental changes. Therefore, environment is linked with gender as they affect people differently based on their social roles and responsibilities.”

In your area, the submission highlights how gender roles significantly influence environmental interactions, particularly in rural settings. Women, often responsible for tasks like water collection and cooking 👩‍🌾💧, experience environmental problems more directly and are often more acutely aware of changes. Conversely, men's engagement in activities like agriculture and industry 🏭 also shapes the environment in distinct ways, underscoring the need to consider gender-differentiated impacts and contributions globally 🌍.
