Worship What You Find in Your Life

In our community, we find our deepest identity and pride in our traditional ways, from our mud houses to our reverence for all creation.

Responds to — Loss of cultural identity

Worship What You Find in Your Life
My community's traditions are everything to us. We celebrate different festivals throughout the year, sing traditional songs, and practice customs that are deeply woven into our daily lives. It's not just rituals; it's who we are. As I've shared, "I really like our community's traditions, customs, food, worship, and lifestyle." Our connection to the land and local resources is fundamental. We worship the entire creation, not just specific gods, but whatever we find in our lives. This means valuing everything around us, from the specific plants in our forest, like the Katula roots that sustained us, to the crab that is part of our tradition, customs, food, and social life. This deep connection gives us pride and resilience. Our mud houses are not just shelter; they "are the fundamental identity and pride of our community." We don't rely on things like the internet, because as Surajsingh Parmar notes, "the internet doesn't work at our place." Instead, we find strength in what is inherently ours—our community and our lived experience.

    The recipe

Cherish and live by your community's unique traditions, customs, and deep connection to local nature as the foundation of identity and resilience.

How do we keep it? We don't even have internet here. How are we supposed to keep it? The internet doesn't work at our place. We don't keep it.

Our people worship the entire creation, they do not worship any gods or goddesses, and they worship whatever they find in their lives. That is what they say.
