    Graphic Novel SONBHADRA

Echoes of Sonbhadra: Threads of Time

In Sonbhadra, an elder reflects on the community's evolving traditions, from festive celebrations and unique tribal customs to environmental shifts and new livelihoods, holding onto the hope of preserving their rich heritage amidst change.

Echoes of Sonbhadra: Threads of Time
    1. 1

The festive spirit once filled homes, with families gathering for Khichdi, Holi, and Diwali, the dholak and manjira echoing through the lanes after Holika Dahan.

    2. 2

But forests are disappearing, and livelihoods are destroyed, leaving behind a land less vibrant, where traditional farming without fertilizer is harder, and even the anganwadi building shows signs of wear.

    3. 3

Yet, the unique ways of tribal people – their food, language, songs, and dances – remain distinct, inspiring a deep wish that old information and knowledge be preserved.

    4. 4

With twenty thousand rupees, a small shop can run, or a sewing and embroidery machine can bring double respect and dignity, weaving new opportunities while cherishing the strength derived from traditional foods and community.
