What people in Mysuru District are saying

11 neighbours have shared what matters to them — in their own words.

“Subject: Request for recognition and development of Hosasayappanahalli village, Dinka Panchayat, Chinakurali Hobli Dear Darshan Sir, I wish to bring to your kind attention a deeply emotional issue of Hosasayappanahalli, a border village between Pandavapura and KR Pete. Historically, people from the old Sayappanahalli lost their homes and lands during the construction of the KRS Dam under the Mysore Wodeyars and were displaced to this new settlement, hence the name “Hosa” Sayappanahalli. Sadly, this village still has no mention in government or panchayat records, leaving residents without an official identity. Being a border village, it also lacks basic development, irrigation, and healthcare facilities. I request your kind intervention to include Hosasayappanahalli in official records and initiate essential development works to improve the lives of its people.”

What the community is telling us🌤️ Mixed

Nearby, the main topics are diverse, reflecting both significant challenges and proactive community engagement. Key issues include the critical need for recognition and basic amenities in unrecorded border villages lacking essential services like irrigation and healthcare. There are also pressing concerns about poor road infrastructure and persistent unemployment, particularly among engineering graduates. However, a strong positive undercurrent highlights significant engagement in economic development initiatives 💡, especially through PACS workshops. These discussions reveal opportunities in ecotourism, leveraging grants for rural markets and farm innovations, and exploring profitable value chains for rice, tomatoes (via khova), and biochar. There's also a concerted push towards organic farming 🌿, with clear requirements for BRCs and purchasing centers. The potential for establishing crucial infrastructure like cold storage and godowns 🛣️ to support these ventures is also actively being discussed.

    What could help
🏡Initiate a program to officially recognize unrecorded villages and prioritize the provision of basic infrastructure and essential services to these communities.
🌱Support and scale up community-driven economic development projects, such as those discussed in PACS workshops, focusing on value chain creation, market access, and establishing necessary storage and processing infrastructure.
🛠️Address local infrastructure needs, particularly road quality, and implement targeted job creation or placement programs for skilled graduates, such as engineers.

“In the PACS workshop related to circular economy, Sunkathonnur PACS president talked about the interest in exploring the value chain of tomatoes since farmers have lost a lot of money on tomatoes this season. Khova is something that can be explored through SHGs. To build these out, there is a need for cold storage, Godown and also Solarisations. However the PACS also needs lands where these can be carried out. ”
